My style is abstract, with very few exceptions. I never try to represent or even suggest an actual person, or object from the real world. My art is a reflection of my inner world; a world of ideas, emotions and spirituality. I use a variety of artistic techniques and symbols to interpret this inner world of mine. The first step in my creative process is to build the basic structure of the piece, often making several sketches until I feel it has a certain strength to it. The choice of colours is always loosely planned, being an expression of my emotional state. The final step is to incorporate many details of personal interest such as numerology and various symbols in order to give depth to the piece. For more details, see the artworks section of this site.
My paintings and montages are never a result of a chaotic or random process. There is always some planning behind the visual structure and/or its symbolic content. Without that, I feel my work lacks something essential, like a foundation. I give a lot of thought to a piece before I start working on it. I like to think of ways to represent abstract ideas such as rhythm visually, or how to show spirituality in a work of art.
Because I don't intentionally represent real objects in my work, I don't want people to search for anything in particular when they look at it. If they see faces, boats, or trees in my pieces, it is by chance and not part of the creative process. The best way to look at my art is to allow your inner self to reflex on the piece, without directly interpreting it with your mind. Feel the emotion and the ideas that pop up naturally. The understanding of the work and its symbolism is not so important, if it makes you feel something, if it helps you reach your inner self, that is the miracle my art can bring you.
